The INTEGRAL/IBIS High Energy Sky: E>100 Kev
Abstract
The INTEGRAL observatory, and in particular the IBIS imager, have been built with the scientific goal to demonstrate the existence of a crowded high energy sky, in the "non thermal" regime, for energies exceeding 100 keV.
In this talk will be reported report, for the first time, the INTEGRAL/IBIS all-sky detection in the energy range from 100 to 300 keV. The sample contains 50 sources, mainly galactic NS binaries and microquasars as well as a substantial number of AGNs. Above 150 keV, more than 50% of the all galactic systems detected are associated with black hole candidates, often reported as microquasars. The sample of high energy detected, even if limited in absolute number, is good enough to construct LogN-LogS curves for galactic and extragalactic objects in the 100-150 keV band. Finally, the total contribution of active galaxies to the cosmic hard X-ray background in the 100-150 keV band will be addressed.- Publication:
